    Description

This antique silver-plated Frank Holton trombone was my grandfather's, then I played it in marching band in the early 1980s. I was certainly the stand-out trombonist in my band - everyone else had brassy colored instruments except for me.
This instrument seems to have been made sometime in the early 1900s, probably the late 1920s, since that would have been when Grandad was a high school student. But there is no specific date on the instrument other than a mark "Patented Aug 7 1917".
It's well-used; there are a few minor dents, the silver plating is worn off in a few places, and the slide is quite stiff (probably just needs to be degreased and polished). But it's somewhat playable, and could be easily restored by someone skilled in the craft. It comes with the black-velvet-lined plastic case shown in the photos.
I'd be happy to know that someone would get some value out of it, even if it's simply as a display piece.
