#1 - Material - the alloy of brass they are using in China has high levels of Zinc!  Isn't that why you're getting rid of those crap OEM saddles?  To get away from the crap cheap alloy? These manufacturers are using the cheapest possible "brass" alloy - it's not even available in USA because, by our standards, it isn't even brass!
#2 - Design - they look rather similar, don't they?  They're not!  The biggest thing is the string ramp.  The KGC string ramp starts at the very front of the saddle where the string touches and has a radiused ramp going downward so you get full contact headed toward the string hole in your bridge plate.  Less contact, less vibration transfer and more wear issues and more tuning instability issues.  Look at those cheap saddles string passover - its cut into the front of the saddle and goes straight in. CRAP DESIGN!  Cutting corners because its harder to cut it the KGC way.
#3 - Finish - the finish on KGC saddles is 100% hand finished to perfection. All edges are soft and the saddle is free of machining marks and scratches.  Not the cheap-o's!  Sharp edges cause problems when you're dealing with strings!
