Holton & Special Tenor Trombone Made By Frank Holton & Co Chicago, Serial number #2396 manufactured in 1902.
This is a very rare instrument that’s still in remarkable playing condition. It’s hard to believe that this is a 120 year old instrument when you play it.
There is a letter of authentication that I have included which describes the history and details of the instrument.
This trombone is in B flat and is in a high key as opposed to the trombones of today which are an a low key.
You probably won’t be able to play this trombone in an ensemble. However, if you want to own one of the oldest trombones made by Holton himself, a 120 year old trombone that still plays absolutely beautifully, this instrument is for you.
The slide is in remarkable playing condition considering its age. It moves smoothly without much resistance. It’s absolutely warm and responsive and has a beautiful singing quality throughout the registers.
This trombone only needs some TLC. There is a dent on the crook that can easily be taken out. The tuning slide moves beautifully as well as the slide. The trombone would benefit from a professional cleaning but it’s playable in its current condition. There is some corrosion on the slide but it does not effect playability or enjoyment of playing this instrument.
It also comes with the original case. The case is not in great shape but it is the original and can be restored if you like.
This item is not returnable so please see all detailed pictures. If you have any more questions regarding this instrument please ask.
